At least you could leave a few rocks there and it will still be there a year later. The best way to see the South Pole would be to leave from South America , Chile, Argentina and Australia. You can fly, there but the most rewarding would certainly be to take a boat.
 
So maybe there is no end to this world because if you reach either of the Poles you will only find a flat piece of land or sea heading away from you.
